Zimbabwe constitutional court election hearing-updates

9 judges will start hearing a petition brought by Zimbabwe opposition alliance this morning.

Meanwhile, South African Advocates Dali Mpofu and Tembeka Ngcukaitobi have been denied permits to represent Nelson Chamisa. Not only that, they have also been BARRED from entering Zimbabwe court.

At the same time, ZANU PF legal secretary Paul Mangwana calls on party supporters to begin preparations for victory celebrations.

Inside the courtroom, Chief Justice Luke Malaba clarifies the 4 categories of participants, that is the Applicant, Respondents who filed notices of opposition, People who did not file notices of opposition but filed documents in support of the applicant and People who have indicated they are not going to participate.

He says the court will hear oral arguments by the parties, each party being given 20 minutes of uninterrupted submissions.

After a long court battle, Nelson Chamisa’s South African lawyers have finally been allowed into the Constitutional Court.

It’s not clear whether they’ll be allowed to represent him.

Chamisa’s team says it’s filing an urgent court application to allow the lawyers to represent him.
