Maxwell Phiri owner of Mlatho Mponera football team dies in a road car accident.

The accident occured in Ntcheu District.

His team has just earned promotion to the Top Flight TNM League from Chipiku Premier Division.

According to police report motor vehicle registration number NS 3396 Toyota Hilux driven by Mr. Maxwell Phiri, Aged 39 , Mavenje Vge, T/A Zulu, D. Mchinji (now deceased. Occured on 23/12/2018 at about at about 2200 hours at Tsamba area along Masasa-Golomoti S127 road.

Brief facts are that on the date and time mentioned above, the driver was driving from the direction of Masasa heading Golomoti with two passengers on board.

Upon arrival at Tsamba area due to speeding, he failed to negotiate a bend and swerved to the nearside of the road where the motor vehicle rested sideways in a nearby water way.

Following the impact, the driver sustained a fractured right arm and died at Dedza District Hospital due to loss of blood whilst the remaining occupants escaped unhurt.

Motor vehicle got its windscreen cracked, offside view mirror broken and offside front part depressed as well as offside fender.

The body of Max Phiri will be taken from Dedza to Lilongwe this morning and vigil is at his home Area 51 Lilongwe – Later in the afternoon the body will be taken to his home village Mavenje TA Zulu in Mchinji for burial on Tuesday .
