The Head of Office for DFID Malawi, Mr David Beer, today handed over 15,000 tablet computers to the Malawi Government, through the National Statistical Office (NSO), to support faster and more accurate data capture during the forthcoming 2018 Population and Housing Census.
Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe, symbolically recieved the tablets in behalf of Malawi Government.
This will be Malawi’s first ever digital census, which the UK has funded to the tune of just over $4.8 million. Censuses are critical to make evidence-based decisions and monitor progress towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals. The UK also supported Malawi’s 2008 Population and Housing Census.
