From getting money from lawyers to remove files from the system, court clerks are embroiled in another corruption syndicate: Now they forge court orders to reverse judgments.
They do so in cases that they have interest in.
High Court of Malawi and Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal registrar Agnes Patemba said she had heard about the malpractice.
Anti Corruption Bureau said it received a complaint from one McDonald Makwangwala whose case ruling was reversed under such dubious circumstances.
Makwangwala had won the case but court clerk Joe Chimbalanga of Blantyre fraudulently issued an interlocutory order against Chimbalanga. Chimbalanga got suspicious and reported the matter to ACB.
ACB spokesperson Egrita Ndala said ACB wrote the High Court to look into the issue.
